This switch enables you to connect two signal sources (e.g., PS5 and Xbox Series X) to a single display. For stable signal transmission and better performance, the switch is recommended for connecting the power supply. However, the switcher will still work even without being charged. This switch works fine. For my use i.e.switching between PC and PS5 at 4K 60 Hz HDMI 2.0 with HDR it does not even need external power from USB-C. I have not tested on 8K.
